I need to purchase a head and neck (plastic of course) for display purposes and I wouldn't mind a full bodied mannequin either now that stock is starting to pile up. I will have to source a nearby market to have a sale. Market selling is always successful because you can connect with likeminded people. Other market vendors are supportive people and there's always a lot of cross trading. As well, you can peruse the different kinds of products for sale and find out where your stock can be placed or costed in order to obtain advantage, for example, next to garment, hat and vintage sellers.
Micro pleated fabric is very difficult to sew. This fabric necklace has taken a long time to sew. About five strands of contrasting fabric fastened together by two rosettes completed with pearl centres. I have filled the tubes with recycled boot laces to give the strands body. Strands circle the neck twice so the necklace can be shown to greater effect. Worn, you would think, over a close fitting T shirt or stretch garment. Definitely not suited to be worn with garments with collars.

This scarf doesn't look very flattering in the photo I must admit. It's pure silk from a Kimono lining. It's old silk and you can see the quality (but not from the photo). I dyed it in a soup of green tea leaves which has given it a golden glow. I dipped the edges in ink and superimposed a stylised drawing of mountains, trees and streams. You can see the detail in the photo of the edging. I then sewed a stiffened border of light black silk to weight the ends for effective draping then washed it in a tie dyed fashion to give it the crumpling effect. Because the fabric is so old there are hand stitching marks and one or two worn areas which give it a real authentic vintage look. Have just finished this body pouch made from some unworn or very little worn trousers. Note the back pocket cut from the back of the trousers. Pouch is lined with polyester fabric cut from a voluminous dress, completed with an inside pocket. It has antique adjustable sliders to allow for a good fit across the body or carried by hand. Appliqué tree gives it some identity don't you think? |
