Do you have a lot of different textiles? Are they the same colour? Are they laying around in a pile or a box getting dusty or musty? Try grabbing a handful and throwing them into a dye bath preferably in a natural dye soup e.g. tea leaves, onion skins, beetroot juice ( anything you may think throws out a stain). Because that's all it is - staining. After the dyeing/staining has been completed lift the textiles out of the bath. Are they crinkled, are they positively ruined as smooth silky textiles? Then all the better to create texture! Insert some padding, randomly of course, play some music and you'll find it's great fun. And what an artistic finish after you have sewn and over sewn and tried different stitches this way and that. Finally make a cushion cover, a bag, a quilt, a waistcoat or a coat? Then look at the graduations of colour, of texture. What a delight? How unusual and how unique. Congratulations. Send us a photo.
